To whom it should refer

 

From the High-Ranking Qur'an:

“Your Lord said, ‘call on Me, I will then comply with your request. Surely those who display arrogance to worship Me soon will enter into Hell in absolute humiliation.” 40: 60

 

 وقال ربکم ادعونی فاستجب لکم، انّ الذین یستکبرون عن عبادتی سیدخلون فی جهنّم داخرین.

As with a preventive measure to stay healthy both physically and spiritually, individually and socially, health-conscious people seriously and correctly follow the rules of creator upon which they are created. And when they experience more enjoyment as the time passes, not only their compliance grows firmer and firmer and never gets tired of their regular practice but when those returned to the primitive practice of their ancestors blame them, they never feel any blameworthy.

“O believers! If any of you return from his faith, should know that Allah will soon bring a group of people whom He loves and they love Him, humble to believers but mighty to disbelievers. Straggling on the path of Allah, they never fear any blamer. Such is Allah’s blessing granted to whom He pleases. Truly Allah is large-scale Granter, All-Knowing.”

 

یاایهاالذین آمنوامن یرتدّ منکم عن دینه فسوف یاتی الله بقوم یحبّهم ویحبوّنه، اذلّه علی المومنین، اعزّه علی الکافرین، یجاهدون فی سبیل الله ولایخافون لومه لائم. ذلک فضل الله یوتیه من یشاء والله واسع علیم.

“The night and day, and the sun and moon are among His signs, lay face down before neither of them, but worship Allah alone who has created you if truly you want to worship. But if you see disbelievers take pride and do not worship, never mind, those who are at the presence of your Lord eliminate what they ascribe to Him night and day without getting tired of it.” 41: 37, 38

 

ومن آیاته الیل والنهاروالشمس والقمر، لاتسچدواللشمس والقمرواسجدوالله الذی خلقهّن ان کنتم ایاّه تعبدون. فان استکبروا، فالذین عندربک یسبّحون له بالیل والنهاروهم لا یسئمون.

Allah has not put two hearts within any man, but allocated it to Himself.

ما جعل الله لرجل من قلبین فی جوفه.

Imam Ali (AS) says, ‘Learning God is the first step in religion, and a perfect learning is belief in Him, and a perfect belief is to admit His unity, and a perfect unity is devotion to Him, and a perfect devotion is to eliminate false attributes ascribed to Him (Tasbih).

اول الدین معرفته، وکمال معرفته التصدیق به، وکمال التصدیق به توحیده، وکمال توحیده الاخلاص له، وکمال الاخلاص له نفی الصفات عنه.   

Realizing this idea, Hafez, famous Iranian poet, symbolically has made this, ‘the privacy of heart is not a place for aliens to speak, when the devil gets out, angel will come in.

خلوت دل نیست، جای صحبت اغیار                دیوچوبیرون رود، فرشته درآید

In our prayers we first say, Allah is far above what they associate with Him, then praise Allah, then after jubilate Allah and finally intensify Allah.

سبحان الله، والحمد لله، ولا اله الاّ الله، والله اکبر. 

And angels usually celebrate their Lord this way, ‘We praise you by eliminating what you are ascribed and sanctify you.

نحن نسّبح بحمدک ونقّدس لک.  

The preventive detention of those accused of a felony and judged to be dangerous to society is a suitable measure for any society. Just after childbirth, a thick, yellow, milky fluid known as colostrum would secret by the mammary glands by the will of Allah, the Compassionate, as a preventive process to protect the newborn against infectious diseases and compensate its weak immune system. That is why the ingredients of this fluid are mostly of minerals and protein, known as immunoglobulin to raise the amount of newborn’s antibodies.

“Allah is He who created you out of weakness, then makes you strong after weakness, and then makes you weak and gray hairs after your strength. He creates whatever He wills because He is All-Knowing, All-Powerful.” 30: 54

 

الله الذی خلقکم من ضعف، ثمِ جعل من بعدضعف قوّه، ثمّ جعل من بعدقوّه ضعفاوشیبا، یخلق مایشاء وهو العلیم القدیر.    

Allah, the Omniscient, Omnipotent has proved us through our creation that He is absolutely in no need of anyone, while we are utterly in dire need of Him at any moment of our life. He created us when we had no strength whatsoever to do anything, and He takes us back without having any power to do otherwise. Therefore taking pride of ourselves should be absolutely unreasonable.

“O people! You are in dire need of Allah, though Allah is absolutely free of want, the Praiseworthy.” 35: 15

 

یا ایها الناس انتم الفقراء الی الله، والله هوالعنّی الحمید.

According to chapter 112, in which all characteristics of Allah’s attributes are stated, His Unity composed of four types of Unity such as the Unity of Essence, the Unity of deeds, the Unity of attributes, and the Unity of service. Of course the first three unities lead us to serve Him alone without setting up anything else with Him. And because all other creatures are the same as we are, and in dire need of Him, He alone must be worshipped and asked for.

Say, ‘He is One and only One, the absolute God, never He beget, nor was He begotten, and none equals Him.

 

قل هوالله احد، الله الصمد، لم یلد ولم یولد، ولم یکن له کفواً احد.

Imam Hussein (AS) was asked what the learning of Allah is? O people! Truly Allah has not created the creature but to learn Him, and worship Him after learning Him, and being free from obeying others by obeying Him, he replied.

یا ایها الناس! انّ الله ماخلق الخلق الاّ لیعرفوه واذا عرفوه عبدوه واستغنوا بعبادته عن عباده ما سواه.

Since Allah, our Creator takes the best necessary measures for us, and has revealed He is settled within our innermost, we have to believe in Him, and call Him to support us from now on as He did in the past.

1-And know that Allah is certainly seated between man and his heart.

واعلموا انّ الله یحول بین المرء وقلبه.

2-Certainly we created man and we know of what his mind suggests him, because we are closer to him than his jugular vein. 50: 16

 

ولقدخلقناالانسان ونعلم ماتوسوس به نفسه ونحن اقرب من حبل الورید.

3-We are nearer to him than you but you can’t see. 56: 85

 

ونحن اقرب  الیه منکم ولکن لا تبصرون.

A true tradition says, ‘All sources of wisdom will flow freely from the heart to his tongue for him who dedicates himself to Allah faithfully and sincerely for forty days.

من اخلص دینه لله اربعین صباحاً، جرت ینابیع الجکمه من قلبه الی لسانه.  

That is why the Lord inspires us to say, ‘Our Lord! Do not twist our heart from its natural make up after guiding us, and grant us from your Mercy. Truly you are the Best grantor. 3: 8

 

ربناّ لاتزغ قلوبنا بعداذ هدیتنا وهب لنامن لدنک رحمه، انّک انت الوهاّب.  

Straggle and its kinds

As you may know, there are two kinds of fight in religious duty, the smaller and the greater. Straggling in a battle against infidels is considered the smaller one, while straggling against one’s own impelling inclinations (Publicly known as urging spirit to evil) is regarded the greater one. Obviously fighting in a battle against enemy with other compatriots would be much easier than fighting against one’s own impelling impulses. Attending in a battle against enemy is a duty for every powerful countryman, and no one cane evade his duty, otherwise he will be punished seriously. But there is neither a stiff rule nor a severe penalty for evading one’s inner inclinations. Therefore overwhelming people, for the following reasons, avoid it. Having no courage for the suppression of pleasant whims and restricting themselves to Divine rules, most people do not have that indulgence to wave their fleeting desires. Other people are not so provident to agree that no pain no gain is true so they do not take pain and they do not care about their ultimate interest either. That is why we should not refer to every one indiscriminately for counseling and mutual exchange of ideas. But those who were lucky in suppressing their urging spirit to evil successfully would be the most reliable source to relieve our concerns. Otherwise no matter who calls other than Allah which has no power to do harm or be of help, or whoever follows those whose harm is more than benefit will have a miserable lord or a miserable associate. 22: 12, 13

یدعوامن دون الله مالایضرّه ومالاینفعه، ذلک هوالضلال البعید. یدعوالمن ضرّه اقرب من نفعه لبئس المولی ولبئی العشیر.

 On many occasions getting rid of damaging factors is too hard or even beyond our capability that we should seek refuge to our Lord, the Omnipotent. The last two chapters of the Holy Qur'an reveal this fact very vividly. Say, ‘I take refuge to the Splitter of everything, to split down the evil of what He has created, the evil of darkness when going down slowly, the evil of the erotic excitement of women when blowing in knots, and the evil of the envious when they feel envy. Therefore the 113th chapter of the Holy Qur'an has been revealed to teach us how we should deal with the daily problems of our real world.

 

قل اعوذ برّب الفلق، من شرّماخلق، ومن شرّغاسق اذاوقب، ومن شّرالنفاثات فی العقد، ومن شرّحاسداذاحسد

 Since fighting against inner pleasant and impelling inclinations are more secret and difficult than outside factors, we should mobilize the most reliable resources accessible to us to get rid of them, as the 114th chapter suggests, to be able to defeat the urging spirit to evil, we should say, ‘I seek refuge to the Lord of people, the King of people, and the God of people from the evil of the secret whisperer, which whispers into the chest of people whether it be jinn or people. Ch 114

 

قل اعوذبربّ الناس، ملک الناس، اله الناس، من شّرالوسواس الخناّس، الذی یوسوس فی صدورالناس، من الجنّه والناس.

Why are not most people seriously conscious to themselves?

This tangible example may help to see why so many people are negligent in their own real benefit. Paying the electric bill to have a power line ready, getting a perfect electric lamp (with a sound filament and lack of air), and connecting this very lamp to the power line are all required to dispel darkness. God, the Compassionate, the Merciful has made ready all those things free for us to remove darkness from our life. But our contribution is only to keep the lamp of our body conscious to admit the Devine light through a serious control of urging spirit to evil. Lamp makers usually put a sound filament in, and remove the air from every lamp they make to be sure that such a lamp gives light after being hooked to power line. On the other hand, beside putting a primitive faith (creative devotion to God), our Creator inserts strong carnal desire within us to prove what would be our feed-back in return to our input in future.

Just as the presence of little air in a lamp makes its filament burn immediately after turning the light on, the primitive faith would be destroyed as soon as men with predominant carnal desires meet a messenger of God calling them to the truths of divine. Therefore our primitive faith is practically dead when our urging drive is predominant, unless we ask God to help us and have special mercy upon us. The innocent Joseph (AS) said, ‘I do not exculpate my own spirit from guilt. Certainly my spirit urges me to evil unless the Lord has mercy upon me. This is because my Lord is the Most-Forgiver, Most Merciful.”

 

وما ابرّیء نفسی، انّ النفس لامارّه بالسوء الاّ من رحم ربی، انّ ربی غفوررحیم.    

How can we suppress the urging spirit to evil?

It is necessary to be familiar with some Quranic terms and its grammatical points, before knowing how to solve this problem. The more we learn those terms the more accurately we can understand the Qur'an. And the more we understand the Qur'an, the more we feel we are supported by the Most Merciful God. When applying its rules into our daily life as we read it continuously and thoughtfully, we experience mooring our impelling desires would be is not that difficult which others believe. And mooring our urging spirit to evil will certainly secure our social and individual life in the best way.

Here are some keys points for better understanding the Quran

1-Present participle stands for a continuous job as in, ‘When your Lord said to angels that I continuously create man from dirt. 28: 71

 

اذ قال ربک للملائکه انّی خالق بشراً من طین.

2-Past participle is used as an adjective such as, ‘Do not put your hand either tied to your neck or extended in full otherwise you will be both blamed and exhausted.”

 

ولاتجعل یدک مغلوله الی عنقک ولا تبسطها کل البسط فتقعد ملوماً محسورا.

 3- Noun usually denote singular, plural, masculine, or feminine; whereas infinitives lead to nothing and they should be distinguished by the analogy of other nouns in the same sentence as in, “Allah brought you out of your mothers’ bellies knowing nothing, and He placed for you 1) hearing, two ears, 2) eyes, and 3) minds that you may give thanks.” 16: 78

 

والله اخرجکم من بطون امّهاتکم لاتعلمون شیئا، وجعل لکم 1) السمع و2) الابصارو3) الافئده لعلّکم تشکرون.

In this verse (# 1) looks singular for it is an infinitive, but because (# 2and 3) are plural nouns, (#1) should be considered a plural noun.

4-Coming “Ma” or “La” before an imperfect tense has different meaning. “La” means not doing in future, while “Ma” means not doing at the time being as in, ‘O unbelievers! In future, I am not going to worship what you worship, and at this time, you are not going to worship what I worship. 109: 1- 3

 

     قل یا ایها الکافرون، لا اعبد ما تعبدون، ولا انتم عابدون ما اعبد.

5-Making any sentence with a negative sense is for confirmation or emphasis as in, “There is not a single thing that does not glorify His praise, but you cannot understand their glorification. In other words, the positive sense means every single thing glorifies His praise, whereas it is not as emphatic as the negative one .17: 44

 وان من شیئ الاّ یسبّح بحمده ولکن لا تفقهون تسبیحهم.

6-Nouns of preference stand more efficacy than any regular noun in the series. “Raazeq”, for instance, simply means a food provider, like a father who just provides food for children. On the other hand, “Razzaaq” means the most and the best Provider of all means for all. Not only dose He provides foods for every food-applicants whether they are in water, air or land; but also He provides all collateral means necessary to facilitate food processing within the body such as different types of teeth, tasteless saliva in the mouth, numerous digestive enzymes in various types. In addition, equipping with feet to go and get food, hands to put food in the mouth, nose to smell and distinguish rotten foods, and intelligence to choose the best food to our health are other aspect of God’s providence in this respect. Providing the sun-light to secure life, energy and heat for all creatures, including plants to make food through photosynthesis for themselves, animals and human beings is another aspect of His provident management.

While the following verses shed more light to this topic, they reveal a pinch of God’s providence to show how God is the best and the best Provider comparing with all other providers.

1-There is not a single moving-creature on earth unless Allah is responsible for its provision, while He knows its dwelling and depository. 11: 6

وما من دابّه فی الارض الاّ علی الله رزقها ویعلم مستقرها ومستودعها.

2-He has placed firmly-established mountains on earth, blessed it, and measured its provisions in all four seasons equally to all applicants. 41: 10

وجعل فیها رواسی  من فوقها وبارک فیها وقدرّفیها اقواتها فی اربعه ایاّم سواء للسائلین.

 3-And we send down from the sky a blessed water through which we grow gardens, harvested grains, and tall palm dates with clustered fruits as provision for the servants. 50: 9-11

ونزّلنا من السماء ماء مبارکا فانبتنا به جناّت وحبّ الحصید، والنخل باسقات لها طلع نضید، رزقا للعباد.

4-Have you ever considered what you harvest? Do you grow it, or We are the Grower? If we

willed we would make it into broken pieces, and you keep yourself amused to say, ‘truly we lost rather we are deprived.” 56: 64-67

افرایتم ما تحرثون؟ ءانتم تزرعونه ام نحن الزارعون؟ لونشاء لجعلناه حطاماً فظلتم تفکّهون، انّا لمغرمون، بل نحن محرومون.

5-Truly Allah is the Most and Best Provider, the Possessor of all powers, and has untiring strength. 51: 58

انّ الله هو الرزاّق ذوالقوهّ المتین.

6-Allah is the one who created the heavens and earth, and sent down from the sky water to produce thereby all kinds of fruits for your sustenance. And He made the sun and moon persistently serviceable to you, and made the night and day subservient to you, and He has given you whatever you needed, so that if you count God’s blessings, you never count them, because man is indeed extremely oppressor, infidel.

الله الذی خلق السموات والارض وانزل من السماء ماءً فاخرج به من الثمرات رزقاً لکم وسّخرلکم الشمس والقمردائبین وسّخرلکم الیل والنهاروآتاکم من کلّ ما سئلتموه وان تعدوّا نعمت الله لاتحصوها انّ الانسان لظلوم کفاّر.

 7-And you see the earth is lifeless and dead but when sending down water upon it, is greatly affected to bring forth and make grow of every beautiful plant in pairs. 22: 5

وتری الارض هامده فاذا انزلنا علیها الماء اهتزّت وربت وانبتت من کلّ زوج بهیج.

We have all experienced that during the period of cold weather not only all deciduous plants die but the earth becomes dead as well. The earth is not affected by no means even though regular rains shower it as usual. This is because half of the earth does not receive enough heat from the sun. But since Allah is the cause of all causes, the earth is appointed to tilt at its equatorial axis alternatively. That is why when the northern hemisphere gets farther from the sun to be cold the southern hemisphere gets closer to it to be warm. As a result, when no plant grows in northern hemisphere, the southern hemisphere is the best place for plants to grow perfectly. As you can see, and the above verses reveal, the earth is so blessed not to confront with food scarce unless the inhabitants of earth become too wasteful in food staff.

8-There are adjacent lots on earth of grapes gardens, crop fields, and palm trees of single and clustered irrigated with the same water, and we give preference the fruit of some of them over others; surely, in this, there are signs for the people who understand. 13: 5

      وفی الارض قطع متجاورات وجناّت من اعناب وزرع ونخیل صنوان وغیرصنوان یسقی بماء واحد، ونفضلّ بعضها علی بعض فی الاکل، انّ فی ذلک لآیات لقوم یعقلون.

The heat and light of the sun and moon is just a very small portion of the will and providence of Allah for making them persistent subservient, otherwise preparing the original matter which was never before, and making it into an inconceivable heat and light to keep warm the solar system, and protecting human beings against such tremendous nuclear energy are another aspect of His providence.

9-Let man consider his food carefully in every respect, how we pour down water abundantly, and then cleave the earth completely, to make therein the grains, grapes and vegetables, olives and dates, thick orchards with trees, fruits and fodders grow to be a provision for you and cattle. 80: 25- 32

فلینطرالانسان الی طعامه، انّاصببناالماء صبّا ثم شققناالارض شقا فانبتنافیهاحباوعنباوقضباوزیتوناونخلاّ وحدائق غلبا وفاکهه وابّا متاعاً لکم ولانعامکم.

10-Therefore eat of what Allah has provided for you lawfully and purely and give thanks to Allah’s blessing if you serve Him. 16: 114

فکلوا ممارزقکم الله حلالا طیباً واشکروانعمت الله ان کنتم ایاّه تعبدون.   

That is why Allah, the Most High has called Himself the Most and the Best Provider, because as we saw in the previous verses, He has comprehensively reminded all factors related to our food, lest we miss any important point connected to our social and individual mental health.

Deeply looking at the last verse, would realize why our food must be pure and lawful. Pure foods maintain our physical being well, while lawful foods keep the nature of our spiritual health. Although the relation between body and mind is undeniable, and there is no doubt about the direct play between food and body, food is to prevent or even cure our sickness not promote all sorts of diseases. But foods acquired illegally would play havoc with the soul after being addicted to practice such illegality by leaving no more morality for us. Food gained through theft, cheating, gambling, usury, bribery not only seriously breaks up mutual understanding among people in any society, it makes us forget the reality of our humanity. Incidentally it should remember that illegal or unlawful foods are not merely limited to those prohibited religiously, such as pork, dead animals or alcoholic beverages; the foods acquired indecently are considered religiously prohibited or illegal.  Islam is simply a way of life to preserve the human life on earth in its natural and desirable state. That is why Islam has revealed such a useful suggestion which was never issued before in any religious book, so Islam advocates people not to follow their own inclination not the steps of Satan but the direct path of Allah. We know it is Satan who corrupts our moral conduct toward ourselves as well as others. On the other hand, modern science and technology, disregarding God’s commands, upset the natural quality of most natural foods. Is there any logical reason to turn the clear and tasteless water into a colored and tasty one? Do we know better than God who made yellow grains of wheat that we turn them into bleached flour? Is it rational to lose mind and more water even temporarily by drinking liquor instead of drinking water which is the best to maintain the liquids of our body?

And these are what the Lord God seriously warns all people:

1-As for the earth, we spread it out and cast firm mountains therein and grew everything in it well-considered measures.

      والارض مددناها والقینا فیها رواسی وانبتنا فیها من کلّ شیئ موزون.

Therefore any processing food which upsets the routine well-considered proportion of the ingredients of natural is absolutely ridiculous, because the Lord, the Omnipotent has made them to keep our all-purpose health.

2-If they do not answer you, know then they simply follow their own inclination. Who is further astray than those follow their own inclination with no guidance from God?

.  فان لم یستجیبوا لک فاعلم انمّا یتبعون اهوائهم، ومن اضّل ممن اتبّع هویه بغیرهدی من الله.

3-And do not obey one whose heart we rendered forgetful of our remembrance, one who pursues his own inclination, while his case is immoderate.

ولاتطع من اغفلنا قلبه عن ذکرنا واتبّع هویه وکان امره فرطا.

4-Thus let the one who does not believe in the Hour (Dooms’ Day) but just follow his inclination to deter you from it, lest you perish.

 ولا یصدّنک عنها من لا یومن بها واتبّع هویه فتردی.

5-Have you seen him who has chosen his inclination his god despite knowledge, so God let him get lost by sealing his hearing and mind and covering his sight? How can then guide him after getting lost by Allah, will you not reflect? 45: 23

افرایت من اتخّذ الهه هویه واضلّه الله علی علم وختم علی سمعه وقلبه وجعل علی بصره غشاوه؟ فمن یهدیه من بعدالله، افلا تذکرّون؟

6-O believers! Do not follow the steps of Satan; for whoever follows the steps of Satan, he surely instructs indecency and wickedness. 24: 21 

یا ایها الذین آمنوا لا تتبعّوا خطوات الشیطان، ومن یتبّع خطوات الشیطان فانهّ یامربالفحشاء والمنکر.

7-Did I not commit you O the children of Adam that you should not serve Satan, for he is surely your open enemy? But you should serve Me alone, this is the right path. And indeed he led astray a great number of you. Why were you not realizing? 36: 60- 62

الم اعهد الیکم یابنی آدم ان لاتعبدوا الشیطان انّه لکم عدوً مبین وان اعبدونی هذاصراط مستقیم ولقداضل منکم جبلّا کثیرا افلم تکونوا تعقلون؟

Let go back now to the main topic.

Discovering several different derivations from the same root should set us thinking what difference they may have.

In conformity with the rules of Arab grammar and its semantic rules body of words, coming from one root, on many occasions get etymologically various forms with different meanings. Observing the following revelations will give more detail in their shades of meaning.

1-“The revelation of this book is from Allah the Almighty, All-Knowing who forgives sin, accepts repentance, while He possesses all Power, is harsh in punishment. There is no god but He, and to Him is all destiny.” 40: 1, 2

تنزیل الکتاب من الله العزیزالعلیم،غافرالذنب وقابل التوب،شدیدالعقاب،ذی الطول،لا اله الاّهو، الیه المصیر.

2-“Inform My servants that I am the Most-Forgiver, the Most Merciful.”

نبئیّ عبادی انیّ انا الغفورالرحیم.   

 3-“And surely I am the Most-Forgiver to him who repents, believes, and does good deeds, provided he is rightly guided.” 20: 82

وانیّ لغفاّرلمن تاب وآمن وعمل صالحاً ثمّ اهتدی.

This verse explaining the main purpose of this article would imply that choosing the right path must always take into consideration until Allah be the Most Forgiver. And there is no way but to follow the prophet and his rightly guided successors, because Prophet Mohammad has a greater claim on believers than their own selves. 33: 6

النبّی اولی بالمومنین من انفسهم.   

Say, O Prophet! This is my way to invite you to God with clear sight which I and who follow me possess. And by claiming that Allah is far away from what they describe, I am not one the polytheists. 12:108

قل هذه سبیلی ادعوا الی الله علی بصیزه انا ومن اتبعنی وسبحان الله انا من المشرکین.

4-Unless those who repent, believe, and do good deeds, Allah then will exchange their sins into good things, because Allah is the Most-Forgiver, the Most Compassionate.” 25: 70

الاّ من تاب وآمن وعمل عمل صالحًا فاولئک یبدّل الله سیآتهم حسنات، وکان الله غفوراً رحیماً.

To whom it may refer for spiritual disorders?

When overwhelming people treat their religion not reluctantly but just oppositely, how should they be consulted for our spiritual disorders? Can a blind lead another blind to the right way? Can a dead body give birth to a live new-born? When most people disobey what they are ordered, conclude what they are prohibited, forget what they are reminded, pretend blind to what they are sighted, and exceed in what they are warned; they are not absolutely competent to be the right place to refer for our spiritual problems.

Most people, not believing in the hereafter, think death is the end and the cessation of life. So they believe this granted life is their ultimate goal, and unique opportunity with which they are directed to get benefit at any cost without being concerned about their consequences. And worst than that is their thinking that life is nothing but a series of disorders and difficulties and they should overcome them at any cost. But the Creator of everything including human beings has revealed, ‘The Lord God created death and life to prove which of you is best in deeds, while He is the Almighty, the Most Forgiver. 67: 2

الذی خلق الموت والحیوه لیبلوکم ایّکم احسن عملاً وهو العزیز الغفور.

Transportation of a fetus from uterus to this world is not to mean death, or the cessation of existence, why should we think relocation from here to the hereafter is the end of life? Gardeners plant fruit trees in the earth, hoping they bear good fruits to their enjoyment after growing well. Naturally growing trees is not their ultimate goal but their good fruits. The same is true that God, the Most Blessing, the Most High made us grow from the earth like plants. 71: 17

والله انبتکم من الارض نباتاً.

Therefore fostering us to rear our physical body must be the ultimate goal but human good moral characters we develop through native endowments granted us.

 Not believing in future life, we do not mind to get human good qualities, because the enjoyment of this life is our goal. As a result, our life will be nothing but full of chaos and total confusion for we want to secure our goal at any cost. Whereas believing in future life, we would arrange our life according to this belief. That is why God the Most Blessing, the Most High revealed, ‘He has created the death and life.   

In addition the following verse proves that death does not mean the cessation of existence, but a turning point of latent existence. How could it take effect if death were the cessation of existence, while this revelation says, ‘We gave you life when you were dead?

How do you disbelieve in God while you were dead and He gave you life, then He will make you die, then He will give you life again to be returned to Him?

کیف تکفرون بالله وکنتم امواتا فاحیاکم ثمّ یمیتکم ثمّ یحییکم ثمّ الیه تزجعون؟

 The word “were” in this verse means we did exist though not the in the present form. As gardeners should take all cares of fruit trees until they produce agreeable fruits to their senses, God, the Most Compassionate has mobilized us with the power of discretion to choose between right or wrong. But it depends on our making decision that who much our mind is suppressed and our inclination is boosted or vice versa.

Verily We showed him the Right way, the choice is his to be grateful or ungrateful. 76: 3

انّا هدیناه السبیل اماّ شاکرا وامّا کفوراً.

In fact, this supplication is nothing but a perfect psychoanalysis to all human emotional conflicts and a through psychotherapy to display how to remove our internal incompatibilities. Everywhere in this supplication, through a Divine insight and gift, the Imam (AS) has reminded those concerned and conscious about their both lives. Analyzing emotional conflicts, showing heedless deficiencies, routine negligence, deliberate shortcomings, and warning the consequences of our insufficiencies are the main procedure of this peerless supplication. This supplication openly displays to what extent we usually oppress ourselves by choosing the wrong and harmful but rejecting the good and useful path despite having enough knowledge. This supplication also exhibits how much we are indifferent or even ungrateful to God’s visible as well as invisible blessings of which we are not able to count them even if we want to.

How can we lift and move very heavy weights by giant cranes which provide us secure, strong and dependable points in air. Why do we fail to remove our emotional conflicts and solve our internal incompatibilities by following and holding fast to the strongest and most reliable Divine Grip?
